Walt
Disney created a land of fantasy and
adventure when he created the Magic Kingdom
in Disneyland in 1955. With his dreams
of creating another make-believe world in
Florida, he planned to include his Magic
Kingdom once again. Sadly,
Walt would never see his dream come true,
but his brother Roy would. Roy O.
Disney opened The Magic Kingdom on October
1, 1971 and named Walt's "Disneyworld" Walt
Disney World.
Walt
Disney World's Magic Kingdom was built
similar to the one in Disneyland; however,
it was built in a larger area and with an
improved design. As legend has it,
Walt Disney once saw one of Disneyland's
Frontierland Cowboys walking through
Tomorrowland. To Walt, this ruined the
effect he wanted for his theme park, and he
vowed to have his new park designed to
improve this problem. So the Magic
Kingdom was built on a raised area of land
with tunnels running beneath it. In
this way, Disney cast members can move
freely through the park without being
noticed by the guests.
The
Magic Kingdom opened with twenty-three
attractions; three were new, and the rest
were copies of Disneyland attractions.
The park was divided into seven themed lands
- six were again from Disneyland, but one
new land was added which had never been
added to Disneyland - Liberty Square.
The seven lands are Main Street USA,
Adventureland, Frontierland, Liberty Square,
Fantasyland, Mickey's Toontown Fair, and
Tomorrowland.
In 1994,
Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom was
officially renamed The Magic Kingdom Park,
in order to distinguish it from Disneyland's
Magic Kingdom. While Disneyland's
Magic Kingdom is known as "The Happiest
Place on Earth"; Walt Disney World's Magic
Kingdom Park is known as "The Most Magical
Place on Earth".
The
Magic Kingdom Park offers a wide array of
show and attractions to young and old alike.
Among those favorites are Pirates of the
Caribbean, the Haunted Mansion, Splash
Mountain, and more. And don't forget

Wishes Nighttime Spectacular and the
